Mystagogy is an important tool for continuing education in the Faith after reception of the sacraments of initiation. It was practiced in the ancient catechumenate to instruct the new converts in the mysteries of the sacraments. Today, with the recent call for the New Evangelization, more and more Catholics are finding weaknesses in their ability to discuss and holes in their knowledge to defend their faith. Our programs for adults are designed to fill in those gaps and, at the same time, to provide fellowship with other parishioners with similar desires.
• Third Saturdays Symbolon: 9:00-10:30 Fee: TBD
Symbolon was written as an RCIA program for those interested in converting to the Faith. It presents the Catechism of the Catholic Church in a compelling and
dynamic manner using trusted theologians and stunning cinematography. Shortly
after its release, it was quickly recognized as valuable to even long-standing
Catholics who need a refresher on what the Church teaches. The lessons are
stand alone, and there is no homework, so drop-ins are welcome.
• Wednesday Evening Bible Classes (6:00 – 8:00)
Catholicism Series by Bishop Robert Barron: June 29 – August 31, 2016
Acts of the Apostles by Jeff Cavins: September – May
Mary and the Bible by Ted Sri: May – June, 2017
Unlocking the Mysteries of the Bible by Jeff Cavins: July – August, 2017
This is a wonderful study for beginners who want to take Bible studies but who feel too far behind in their understanding of the Bible. It is an eight-week overview presented by Jeff Cavins, which will build confidence to begin a full program in the fall.
Register by calling the office. Fees are based on the cost of the workbooks. • Theology on Tap: This is a casual evening at a local venue where guests can have any questions on the Faith answered by Fr. Enrique. It is held quarterly, and tickets are sold to cover the cost of a light meal.
Next session: Tuesday, February 28, 6 P.M. at Wine Attitude, 6633 N. Mesa
Post Confirmation Youth:
We are looking for adult mentors for small groups of youth
between Confirmation and college. Gender-specific groups of six or so young people meet with the mentor every other week to discuss the video presentation. Mentors would follow the youth’s faith formation through college. If interested, please call Christy Balsiger for more information.
